About

About Me

I create bold, graphic illustrations for artists/bands and brands in the music space. With a background in design and a focus on illustration, my work blends vibrant color, heavy line work, shading, texture, and type. My art aims to capture the feeling of attending a concert—offering an escape from negativity, even if only for a moment. I specialize in:

  • Posters

  • Album Art

  • Merchandise

  • Music Branding/Identity

My Story

I'm Alex Godziszewski, because of my last name being so Polish most of my close friends and family call me “Gorb.” Born and raised in Metro Detroit, I’ve always been fueled by my creativity, which started at a young age due to being diagnosed with cerebral palsy. This condition left the left side of my body slightly paralyzed, limiting some physical activities but opening the door for more time to explore creative outlets. Growing up introverted, I immersed myself in LEGO, video games, cars, music, and, of course, art—passions that still inspire me today.

Looking back I can’t remember when there wasn’t music playing in my house. While my mom exposed me to Country, I spent much more time with my dad out in the garage listening to Rock N’ Roll. Specifically for any of my local Detroit fans, a radio show called House of Hair on Sunday morning hosted by Dee Snider. This addiction to music never stopped. A good amount of my adolescence was spent going to concerts and collecting vinyl records. Keep in mind I was born in 1997! Even though I wasn’t musically inclined, my connection to music led me wanting to still participate in the industry in some way.

In high school, I rediscovered my love for art through graphic design classes, which led me to pursue a design degree in college. After graduating in 2020 during the global pandemic, I was inspired by artists like Shepard Fairey, Aaron James Draplin, and the team at Lincoln Design Co.

At the end of 2022, after much thought and encouragement from friends and family, I rebranded my freelance side hustle into Gorbstrator. I firmly believe in creating your own world, and I want to let you into mine.

Now you know my story—welcome to the show!
